Wildlife Surveys
Wildlife surveys play an essential role in any wildife or hunting ranch. Helicopter surveys are the preferred and most accurate method to survey wildlife and to assist in calculating harvest recommendations for deer and exotics.
According to Jose Cano, a biologist with Texas Parks and Wildlife, surveys “allow the landowner/manager to determine the following:
1. Buck to Doe Ratio
2. Fawn Production
3. Antler Development of Bucks
4. Distribution of Animals on Ranch
5. Vegetative Condition of Ranch
6. Location of Deer for Harvest
| As with some of the other services we provide, one of the main
advantages to using a helicopter for survey work is that a survey can
be conducted rapidly and efficiently, giving a landowner real numbers,
real fast. These numbers are crucial to any breeding program and/or
hunting operations. Before a survey can be conducted, a landowner must apply for a “LOA” or Landowners Authorization to Manage Wildlife by Aircraft from Texas Parks and Wildlife. Helicopter Wildlife Services holds the necessary permits for us to survey and catch wildlife on your property. |  |
